REL SERIE HT SUBWOOFERS ARE DESTINED FOR GREATNESS

Like Bugatti, Maserati or Bentley in the luxury and performance car market, REL Acoustics, has long been considered the pinnacle brand of subwoofers.

REL's labour of love, born from a desire for a more perfect sound experience has continued since 1990.

Not about to rest on its laurels, REL has today announced the introduction of Serie HT, which has been designed to specifically answer its own challenge of making affordable, dynamic and exceptional sounding subwoofers for home cinema use.

With two sealed enclosure models available, the HT/1205 is a 12" CarbonGlas model combined with a 500w Class D power amplifier that is said to produce extremely flat bass down to the 20Hz region.

For those with a smaller space, the HT/1003 applies the same approach as its stablemate but scales it down just a little. It uses a 10” high-powered, long throw driver coupled to a 300W Class D power amplifier.

Both models are finished in an attractive, yet purposeful line grained black aluminium-look and topped by a 12mm thick polished top that serves to damp vibrations on the critical top surface of the cabinet.

Both models feature dual-purpose Low-Level stereo RCA or LFE RCA inputs. They are also compatible with REL's optional HT-Air wireless signal transmitters and receivers.

John Hunter, REL's owner and lead designer told StereoNET:

We have extensively tested these models, both as standalone theatre products and when used to supplement an existing REL theatre. They are designed with the ability to interweave with REL Theatre Reference products, not replace them.

The Serie HT subwoofers represent a breakthrough of performance and value in the pure home theatre space, conferring the blend of reliability, ultra-high performance and attractive design only REL can bring to bear in the category.

REL's Serie HT subwoofers are expected to be available in New Zealand in August 2018 and will sell locally for HT/1003 ($1,399 RRP) and HT/1205 ($1,799 RRP).

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
