Rogers AB3a Sub and new LS3/5a Configurations set for Bristol Show

Rogers will unveil its AB3a active subwoofer and some new configuration options for its LS3/5a Classic 15 Ohm loudspeaker.
Previewed at last year's Bristol Hi-Fi Show, Rogers LS3/5a Classic 15 Ohm loudspeaker is now in production in the UK. Manufactured to the original 15 Ohm BBC specification, the reborn Rogers LS3/5a is "once again setting the standard for this iconic speaker", according to the British speaker maker.
Also, thanks to a special mounting kit, you now get more configuration options for your LS2/5a.

Furthermore, at The Bristol Hi-Fi Show 2020, visitors will be able to be among the first to meet the AB3a active subwoofer.
The new low-end reinforcement replicates the design of the original AB1 - that is, it functions as a stand for the partnering LS3/5a.
Each active subwoofer utilises two Rogers LS3/5a bass units and is mass loaded with a specific resin to lower the resonant frequency and stiffen the Bextrene cone which stiffens the cone and so dramatically improves the low-frequency definition and bass attack, says Rogers.
Additionally, you can see how the AB3a further adds flexibility to the LS3/5a configuration options (below).
The AB3a cabinet is constructed from 12mm birch plywood (the same cabinet material as used in the Classic LS3/5a) and houses a 50 Watt mono amplifier. Each amp is adjustable for gain, frequency and phase response. The result is that the amplifier can be tailored to match the listening acoustics perfectly. The recommended connection is via the high-level input, using existing speaker cable and then jump links to the LS3/5a.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
