Ruark Audio Expands Southend-on-Sea Headquarters

Ruark has invested in a significantly enhanced office space, a doubling of warehouse capacity, a new R&D centre with a listening room, and an in-house photographic studio.
We're told that as the British, family-owned company continues to see year-on-year sales increases, it has also been necessary to considerably expand its warehouse in Southend-on-Sea. Doubling capacity will enable Ruark to accommodate this impressive growth.
Ruark Audio founder Alan O'Rourke told StereoNET:
During such unprecedented times, we are delighted to be investing so heavily in our headquarters. Ruark Audio has been based here for almost forty years, so making sure our UK team have the finest equipment and support is a priority for us. Despite difficult ongoing circumstances, the past few years have been very successful for Ruark.
The larger research and development centre now houses a new, acoustically-treated listening room where Ruark can test and perfect its class-leading designs. Meanwhile, Ruark tells us that the development facility was needed to create the company's next generation of products that have been developed on an entirely new, proprietary platform.
We can also look forward to more rich media content, thanks to Ruark now having its own in-house photographic studio. This will also produce 'how to' instructional videos for consumers.
Finally, the fully modernised and expanded office offers a sleek, clean working environment for the team – one that is more in line with the company's stylish products – and allows for continued growth in the future with space for further team additions.
It's always great to hear that a British brand is coming out of the series of lockdowns stronger, and we look forward to hearing the result of Ruark's new R&D department soon.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
