Sennheiser CX Plus True Wireless Special Design Edition Announced

Sennheiser elevates its CX Plus True Wireless earphones with its new Special Design Edition.

The Sennheiser CX Plus SE True Wireless earbuds sport a smart brushed matte surface, giving it a premium finish while retaining an accessible price point.

Nevertheless, thanks to the German-engineered TrueResponse transducer, the CX Plus SE promise audiophile technology for everyday listening. Developed for the audio specialist’s premium earbuds, we are told to expect high-fidelity stereo sound with deep basses, natural mids, and clear, detailed treble from this bespoke acoustic system. Indeed, the CX Plus had our own Matthew Jens actually exclaim "it's too good for the price point".

Each earbud is equipped with a pair of dual mics that optimises speech for calls and voice assistant access to ensure crystal clear voice pick-up. A particularly nice feature is that the right and left earbuds can be used individually or as a pair.

Naturally, Active Noise Cancellation is on the menu, along with the now expected Transparent Mode, enabling you to let some of the outside in when needed.

Customisable touch controls make using the CX Plus SE True Wireless effortless, with you able to tailor bespoke commands ensuring controlling audio, calls and accessing voice assistants is convenient and intuitive.

Finally, with the promise of fatigue-free all-day enjoyment, IPX4 rated splash resistance and an impressive claimed 24 hours of playback before you need a plug socket, the CX Plus SE True Wireless has plenty to like about it.

The Sennheiser CX Plus SE True Wireless is available in black from April 1 for an MSRP of £159.99.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
