Sony’s New BRAVIA Theatre Range Brings Cinema Home

Sony is bringing a slice of Hollywood into living rooms with its newly announced BRAVIA Theatre home audio lineup, designed to recreate a cinema-like experience without leaving the couch.
Unveiled earlier this month, the BRAVIA Theatre range includes the BRAVIA Theatre Bar 6 soundbar, the complete BRAVIA Theatre System 6 home theatre system, plus optional add-ons like the BRAVIA Theatre Rear 8 wireless rear speakers and the BRAVIA Theatre Sub 7 wireless subwoofer. Sony says the new range is engineered to deliver immersive surround sound, inspired by the multi-speaker setups typically found in commercial cinemas.
At the heart of the offering is the BRAVIA Theatre Bar 6, a 3.1.2-channel soundbar paired with a wireless subwoofer. Supporting Dolby Atmos and DTS: X and equipped with Sony’s Vertical Surround Engine and S-Force PRO Front Surround technologies, the Bar 6 aims to produce a three-dimensional sound field even from stereo content. A dedicated centre channel and Sony's AI-powered Voice Zoom 3 are designed to keep dialogue crisp and intelligible, particularly when paired with a compatible 2025 BRAVIA TV model.
For those wanting to step up the experience, the BRAVIA Theatre System 6 is an all-in-one 5.1-channel, 1000-watt powerhouse. It also features a soundbar, subwoofer, and separate rear speakers. It also supports Dolby Atmos and DTS: X, adding features like Multi Stereo to further boost the immersive effect by replicating stereo content across more channels.
Optional upgrades come from the BRAVIA Theatre Rear 8 and BRAVIA Theatre Sub 7. Sony claims these wireless additions elevate spatial realism even further, courtesy of its proprietary 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology, while maintaining a compact, stylish footprint suited for modern interiors.
Seamless integration is a key selling point across the range. Sony says users can control their BRAVIA TV and BRAVIA Theatre products through the BRAVIA Connect app, offering a unified setup and streamlined operation, without constantly swapping remotes. Additionally, BRAVIA sound settings can be accessed directly through the TV’s quick settings menu for easier adjustments.
Sustainability also plays a part in the BRAVIA Theatre story, with Sony noting that it uses recycled PET fabrics and reduced plastic packaging as part of its ongoing "Road to Zero" environmental plan.
Sony's BRAVIA Theatre products are already available or listed for pre-order in several international markets, including the UK and the USA. Australian availability is expected from July 2025.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
