Those that know about these things will tell you Lyngdorf knows this technology like he knows the layout of a piano keyboard. After all, he pioneered the technology more than a decade ago in his TacT amplifiers.
In the new speaker and sub, the technology emerges as the brand’s RoomPerfect processing wizardry to correct for room acoustics. Digital processing also tweaks each speaker’ performance.
Steinway Lyngdorf models “talk to each other “ via the brand’s Digital Link interface which is patented and capable of handling high-resolution audio signals.
The hero model of the new S-Series is the S-15 satellite speaker that is just 10-inches high. Designed for stands or simply hung on a wall, the S15 is notable for its unique tweeter. It’s a novel Ambiance Enhancing Radiation dipole with enviable dispersion.
Stylistically the S15 stands out thanks to its rubber strings on the side of its cabinet that are meant to evoke the Steinway pianos that inspire the brand’s designs.
The S15 is also sturdy. The cabinets are made with a solid aluminium back plate. Drivers used are one midrange with ultra light cone crossing over to a single AMT tweeter.
The matching S-210 subwoofer has two 10-inch woofers and a solid cabinet built to not store any resonance. Working in tandem, the S15 satellites and S-210 subwoofer can be tuned for any room via the brand’s RoomPerfect digital processing technology.
Price of a model S Series? Like the Steinway pianos, it won’t be cheap. Prices start at $39,995 and spar from there.
