StereoNET Welcomes New Deputy Editor for Australia & New Zealand

As one of the world's leading specialist and independent publications with nearly two million readers per month, StereoNET is pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Sexton as Deputy Editor.
Further bolstering our global editorial team, Jason is based in Sydney and will oversee all things editorial for our Australia and New Zealand regions.
Jason's career has been shaped by his time in specialist retail, where he developed a keen understanding of the industry and a strong ability to communicate with an engaged audience. Jason's decades of experience spanning marketing, brand development, and communications, as well as a deep-rooted passion for hi-fi and home entertainment, will only benefit him in this new role.
StereoNET Founder & Managing Director Marc Rushton commented:
It's a privilege to welcome Jason to the team. His appointment ends a years-long search to find the right person to step into this all-important role, one long overdue in the region where our now global publication was founded in 2004.
Originally from Adelaide, he relocated to Sydney in 2007 to take up a role at Telstra's BigPond Content Division as a Production Manager. His transition into hi-fi retail came in 2012, following a redundancy from Telstra. This led him to roles at Toys R Us and JB Hi-Fi before ultimately joining one of Australia's most awarded retailers, Len Wallis Audio, as Marketing Manager.
His passion for music stems from his early years, spent listening to vinyl records on his family's RCA turntable; Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, ABBA, and Joni Mitchell were all staples in his household. Growing up in the '80s, Jason recalls the excitement of stereo radio and FM simulcasts, where entire families would gather around the television, with the audio broadcast high-fidelity over FM radio.
Jason was also fortunate to experience the golden age of Australia's live pub band scene, witnessing acts like INXS, Icehouse, Noiseworks, and Boom Crash Opera in their prime. Moving to Sydney, he was at the forefront of the digital entertainment revolution, experiencing first-hand the rapid shift to on-demand media and broadband internet.
Jason added:
I'm proud to continue my journey with StereoNET, drawing upon my deep understanding of the industry and its members, and committed to respecting our audience, and delivering the content that is important for consumers and industry alike.
While working at Len Wallis Audio, he was introduced to StereoNET and quickly realised its potential to connect specialist retailers with consumers and enthusiasts. A decade later, he joins the publication in a key editorial role.
A keen Mountain biker and dedicated Dad, Jason enjoys the picturesque Blue Mountains of NSW and can often be found riding the trails on any typical weekend.
Jason now brings his wealth of industry experience and deep enthusiasm for audio to StereoNET, where he looks forward to contributing to its continued growth and delivering high-quality content for readers across Australia and New Zealand.
Welcome Jason!

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
