StreamUnlimited Brings High-Resolution Wi-Fi Audio to Headphones

StreamUnlimited is taking wireless headphone audio to the next level with a new Wi-Fi-based platform designed to deliver true high-resolution sound without the usual Bluetooth compromises.
StreamUnlimited, the Vienna-based streaming technology specialist, is targeting the headphone market with a new Wi-Fi-based solution that promises to overcome Bluetooth audio's long-standing limitations. With wireless convenience now an expectation rather than a luxury, the company says its latest innovation offers the bandwidth and stability needed to support high-resolution playback without compromise.
This isn't the first we've seen of Wi-Fi headphones. Indeed, we reviewed the HED Unity headset back in 2023, where Simon Lucas said it was "the best-sounding wireless headphone design that I have heard to date" but also noting that Untiy was "fearsomely expensive," and it had some teething issues.
At the heart of this development is StreamUnlimited’s Stream210 module, designed to enable next-generation wireless headphones that can stream audio via dual-band Wi-Fi 6 while retaining Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio for fallback and compatibility. Unlike traditional Bluetooth implementations, which are limited by low bitrates, short range, and interruptions from incoming calls and notifications, Stream210 enables direct playback of lossless and high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/192kHz — untethered from the source device.
Christoph Apel, Director of Systems at StreamUnlimited, commented:
We are proud to showcase our innovative Wi-Fi solutions tailored to high-end and mainstream headphones, redefining the wireless listening experience. This approach sets new standards for audiophiles seeking seamless and uninterrupted sound.
The Stream210 module features a dual-core ARM Cortex-A32 processor clocked at 1.3GHz, paired with 2Gb of onboard memory. This allows for efficient audio processing with low power consumption, which is critical for portable, battery-powered devices. The module supports using either an integrated audio CODEC and EQ for cost-sensitive applications or an external high-performance DAC for premium designs.
Manufacturers also gain access to StreamSDK, a comprehensive software stack enabling support for streaming platforms like Spotify Connect, AirPlay, Google Cast, TIDAL, and TIDAL HiRes FLAC, as well as integration with voice assistants, smart home protocols, and multiple audio codecs. The SDK positions Stream210 as a drop-in solution for direct-to-cloud headphone streaming — a category that has remained largely untapped due to previous technological limitations.
While initially targeted at wireless headphone developers, the Stream210 platform is adaptable for digital radios, wireless speakers, audio receivers, smart home systems, and even industrial IoT applications — highlighting StreamUnlimited’s ongoing role as a versatile enabler in connected audio.
StreamUnlimited will exhibit at High End Munich 2025, where the company will showcase its Stream210 module and other innovations. You’ll find them in Hall 1, Stand F02, and we look forward to seeing how this technology might reshape the future of wireless hi-fi.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
