SVS Reimagines Its Most Popular Subwoofers Of All Time

Renowned for its high-performance and excellent value subwoofers, SVS, has announced the release of the 2000 Pro Series that promises to set performance benchmarks at its price point.

The SVS 2000 Pro Series includes three models which feature an all-new 12-inch high excursion SVS driver and a Sledge STA-550D amplifier delivering 550 watts RMS (1,500+ watts peak) with discrete MOSFET output for "effortless, room-energizing bass with pinpoint control and accuracy."

At the heart of the Sledge amplifier is a 50 MHz Analog Devices Audio DSP with 56-bit filtering, which is reported to be the most sophisticated DSP engine ever used in a home subwoofer.

The lineup includes SB-2000 Pro ($1,800 RRP) sealed cabinet, PB-2000 Pro ($1,950 RRP) ported cabinet, and PC-2000 Pro ($1,800 RRP) ported cylinder cabinet models.

The new series, according to SVS, draws on technology featured in the brand's flagship 16-Ultra models that have proven popular with AV enthusiasts around the globe. SVS says its completely new driver design "is built for serious output as well as finesse and accuracy."

According to Gary Yacoubian, SVS President and Managing Partner:

The proprietary SVS design features a dual ferrite magnet motor assembly with long-throw parabolic surround for extreme excursion with room pressurizing SPLs. A lightweight and rigid aluminum vented cone with composite fiber dustcap moves immense amounts of air to create tactile sonic energy without losing control. The result is accurate response, even at the most intense listening levels.

First seen with the release of SVS' flagship 16-Ultra subwoofers, the new 2000 Pro range features the SVS Subwoofer DSP smartphone app for Apple, Android, and Amazon devices. The app brings a whole new level of convenience to dialling in and tuning your subwoofer, all from your listening position.

Yacoubian continued:

We reimagined every aspect of the 2000 Pro design, from driver and amp to cabinet and control. By deploying the most advanced technology from our flagship models with new innovations, we've achieved reference performance at a lower price range than ever before. They are a true reflection of the passion we have for creating world-class audio experiences.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
