This year, Tannoy joins the centenary club and will celebrate this milestone at High End Vienna 2026.

For this anniversary, Tannoy set its engineering team on two models from its acclaimed Prestige Gold Reference Series and “pushed the envelope of high-fidelity performance even further.”

The result is a limited-edition anniversary series boasting technical upgrades, including improved internal cabling for a more engaging listening experience.

As true heirloom pieces, production numbers honour the company’s founding year: 19 pairs of the flagship Westminster Royal GR and 26 pairs of the sub-flagship Canterbury GR will be produced.

These production runs together neatly form 1926. This is a tribute to a century of British audio innovation and "a rare chance for audiophiles to own Tannoy history."

We are told that these exclusive models are just the beginning of a range of centenary editions which are expected to roll out over the next three years.

Westminster Waltzes into Vienna

Tannoy’s £55,000 Westminster Royal GR will be on demonstration at High End Vienna 2026. The two-way, horn-loaded design is built around a 15-inch Dual Concentric drive unit. Standing 140 cm tall and weighing 140 kg, the Westminster Royal GR features a number of Tannoy's key acoustic technologies. These include the PepperPot WaveGuide, Alnico magnets, aluminium-magnesium alloy diaphragms with Mylar surround compression drivers.

The 530-litre birch ply cabinet has comprehensive internal bracing with Tannoy's Differential Materials Technology (DMT) and is finished in oiled walnut veneer with hand-selected burr walnut inlays. Its 99 dB sensitivity should ensure compatibility with high-powered transistor amps and low-powered valve amps alike. Tannoy claims bass extension down to 18 Hz for full-bandwidth reproduction.

The Westminster Royal GR will be driven by high-performance electronics from Esoteric, while cabling is provided by Montaudio. The system will give attendees the opportunity to experience one of the world's most exceptional loudspeakers with an optimally configured set-up.

The first of these ultra-exclusive limited-edition models will officially launch in the coming months, with more details and pricing expected nearer that time.
