Violectric HPA V324 Delivers Balanced Power and Preamp Functionality

Violectric has officially introduced its latest reference-class headphone amplifier, the HPA V324, showcasing it last week to the global audio community during the High End Munich 2025 exhibition. Building on the legacy of the much-loved V281, the new model promises uncompromising sonic performance, elegant aesthetics, and all the flexibility required by today’s discerning listeners.

With its dual illuminated VU meters and motorised volume control, the HPA V324 is as much about tactile experience as it is about technical excellence. Handcrafted in Germany, the new model is equally at home powering balanced and unbalanced headphones or serving as a high-end preamp for power amplifiers or active speakers.

At the heart of the HPA V324 is a symmetrical and asymmetrical circuit topology developed by chief engineer Fried Reim. Designed to deliver distortion-free performance regardless of connection type, the amplifier supports 4-pin XLR and 4.4mm Pentaconn outputs for balanced headphones, alongside a traditional 6.3mm jack for unbalanced connections.

True to its analogue pedigree, the VU meters on the front panel are classic coil instruments, subtly backlit for both style and function. Users can adjust their sensitivity via DIP switches on the rear panel, allowing fine calibration of display levels based on source signal strength.

In terms of connectivity, the HPA V324 is as adaptable as it is refined. The rear panel offers a choice of balanced XLR or unbalanced RCA inputs, with input selection available from the front panel. Output options include balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA preamp outs, along with the front-facing headphone jacks.

A six-step Pre-Gain switch (-18 dBU to +12 dBU) allows users to optimise the gain structure depending on the source's output voltage, making the amplifier broadly compatible with a wide range of gear. A high-grade Alps RK27 potentiometer with remote-controlled motorisation for IR compatibility handles volume.

Violectric has engineered the HPA V324 with low output impedance and a high damping factor, ensuring optimal control for even the most demanding headphones. Built-in protective circuitry shields connected headphones from unwanted transients when powering on or off, and a front-panel LED signals any triggered protection status. Additionally, the Pre-Gain switch allows users to tailor the gain structure for headphones of differing sensitivity, ensuring precise volume control across all setups.

As with all Violectric products, the HPA V324 is designed, assembled, and tested at the company’s in-house facility in Gauting, Germany. Rigorous quality control and the use of premium components ensure exceptional sonic results, longevity, and reliability.
