Visaton Nimrod Speaker Kit Available in UK

German speaker manufacturer, Visaton, has worked with UK loudspeaker specialists Wilmslow Audio Ltd to launch its loudspeaker kit specifically designed for the UK market.
Visaton's Nimrod is a three-way bass-reflex design, strongly influenced by the classic speaker designs of the "golden age" and primarily those made within the UK.
Available as fully assembled 'turn key' loudspeakers and as flat pack kits, the Nimrod is rocking the retro aesthetics of the 70s. However, we are informed that the Nimrod is equipped with the latest precision drive units from Visatons' range as well as waveguides to improve tweeter, midrange integration. The promised result of carefully matching the drivers with an "advanced crossover" is a combination of the warmth and listenability of the old, with the clarity and precision of the new.
The system is rated at 120 W rms with a claimed frequency response of 31-20,000 Hz. Sensitivity is rated at 84 dB (1 W/1 M) with nominal impedance stated as being 4 Ohms. The finished speaker measures 1011 x 304 x 320 mm, (H x W x D) when mounted on its purpose-designed stand.
The Nimrod is available now for auditioning and purchase at the Wilmslow Audio showroom in Leicester, UK where the loudspeaker specialists offer The Nimrod kit with four different purchasing options:
Basic Kit (£790 ex VAT): Includes all elements to build the kit (excluding cabinets) with fully detailed assembly instructions, including CAD cabinet drawings.
Flat-pack in Plain (£1,125 ex VAT) or Pre-veneered MDF ( £1,275 ex VAT): Cabinets supplied as a self-assembly flat-pack in either plain or pre-veneered MDF. Both options are fully machined and rebated, which means that the components slot together very easily and can be glued with the provided PVA wood adhesive.
Factory Built Option (Veneered Only) £1,675 ex VAT: Kits are supplied fully assembled. The veneered cabinets are supplied, assembled and lacquered to a furniture finish. Available in a variety of real wood veneer finishes.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
