Viva Audio Verticale Debuts Both Sides of The Atlantic

Viva Audio Verticale loudspeakers will premiere simultaneously at the Southwest Audio Fest in Texas, USA, and Audio Show Deluxe in Northamptonshire, UK.

The new Verticale speakers from Viva Audio follow the Italian firm's tradition of creating high-end audio systems known for their innovative design and exceptional sound quality.

We are told that Amedeo Schembri, chief designer of Viva Audio, has been working for two years on this project, resulting in a 3-way design with an additional powered low-frequency section.

During that time, Schembri focused on bringing the Viva sound to a more affordable and compact size. It will undoubtedly be interesting to hear if he has achieved distilling the impact and agility of Viva's expansive Credenza, Nuda and Master Horn designs.

The 138x48.7x66.7cm [HxWxD], 109Kg, floorstanding loudspeakers consist of a quartet of 10-inch long-throw woofers, a 6-inch horn-loaded midbass, a 1.4-inch horn-loaded compression driver and, topping things off, what looks to be a decoupled proprietary horn super-tweeter.

We are told that the crossover assigns speaker duties at 200Hz, 1200Hz, and 10000Hz, with the group good for a 35-23000Hz within +/- 3 dB frequency response. Meanwhile, sensitivity is listed as 98dB/W, alongside a 6ohm nominal impedance figure.

Visitors to the UK event will be able to hear Viva Audio's Solista MK III in action. In its StereoNET review, I described this Applause Award-winning amp as possessing "...the power and speed of a great solid-state, plus a delightfully natural and organic music-making style that's the hallmark of quality tube amps."

The Solista (pictured with Amedeo above) is a 22w single-ended triode Class A design based on 845 tubes and will drive the new Verticale loudspeakers. This will be joined by Viva Audio's Numerico DAC, with everything knitted together by Albedo-Silver cables.

Over in the Lone Star State, the new towers will be driven by a Solista stereo amplifier, Linea two-chassis pre-amp with outboard power supply, and a Numerico DAC fed by a Pink Faun Scion Streamer. Analogue audio fans will also get to hear a selection of special Security Master Tape originals during some late-night listening sessions via a United Home Audio Ultima Apollo reel-to-reel deck.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
