Yamaha Introduces CD-C603 5-Disc CD Changer

While digital music streaming might be all the rage now, plenty of us still have cherished CDs we want to play. Yamaha is making that easier with its newly announced CD-C603 5-Disc CD changer.

The internal layout of the circuitry has been changed, allowing for even better sound quality, says Yamaha. The front panel also features a USB port that supports high-quality playback of music files stored on memory devices, including formats such as WAV, FLAC, and WMA, as well as the standard MP3 and AAC.

Additionally, the CD-C603 sports a full-opening disc tray, allowing for five CDs to be changed simultaneously. There’s also Yamaha’s Play X Change function, which allows a disc to be changed while the current CD keeps playing, making for an uninterrupted music-listening experience while exchanging CDs.

There’s also Yamaha’s Pure Direct mode, which can be found in the company’s other amplifiers and receivers. With the press of a button, the front panel display can be turned off, and the digital audio output is shut down.

This results in the lowest possible noise interference and ensures the analogue audio output is at its best possible quality.

Inputs and outputs include an unbalanced RCA output and an optical output, along with remote IN/OUT outputs.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
