System Audio Signature Passive Speaker Range Released
System Audio's Signature speaker range boasts "class-leading" value and room-friendly designs.
System Audio has made its name through affordability and typically Scandinavian minimalist speaker designs. It now adds a Signature series which, according to the Danish brand, will not only "elevate the excellent levels of audio performance" but " also offer "class-leading value."
System Audio's five-model Signature line promises high efficiency and power handling from slender, room-friendly designs, making it easy to fit seamlessly into any home environment. The new line comprises the three-way Signature 40 floorstanders, the two-way Signature 5 stand mounts and the Signature 8 subwoofer. Rounding things off are a pair of two-way on-wall speakers dubbed the Signature 6 and the Signature 10.
The Signature 40 floorstander uses a 2.5cm soft-dome tweeter, dual 14cm woofers, and a 14cm midrange. Meanwhile, the Signature 5 standmount is loaded with a 2.5cm tweeter and a 14cm mid/bass driver. Finally, the Signature 8 subwoofer boasts 600 watts of amplification and twin 20cm woofers.
The drive units have been developed in-house for the Signature series to achieve a "perfectly balanced and consistent sound from model to model." The new 25mm soft-dome tweeter features a low-mass membrane of woven fibres and a neodymium magnet that allows the tweeter to be used at a lower crossover frequency. This is married to the brand's DXT acoustic waveguide, which helps deliver "excellent dispersion" for room-filling sound.
The 14cm bass/mid drivers have also been custom-made for the range and optimised for the required enclosure size. The drivers use a low-mass, low-distortion glass-fibre diaphragm alongside a long-stroke motor system, which lets the membrane move 40 percent more air than a traditional speaker of the same size, resulting in "deeper, more defined bass," say the Danes.
The new System Audio Signature range is available now in white or black satin finishes priced as follows:
- Signature 40 floorstander: £1,999 / €1,999 per pair
- Signature 10 wall: £699 / €699 each
- Signature 6 wall: £799 / €799 each
- Signature 5 standmount: £999 / €999 per pair
- Signature 8 subwoofer: £1,099 / €1,099 each
