Chord Electronics 2go Now Available

Chord Electronics' 2go streamer is now available to buy.
The revolutionary streamer/server from Chord Electronics is designed to transform the Hugo 2 DAC into a fully-featured network music player and streamer.
Announced in December, debuted in January and revealed at The Bristol Hi-Fi Show in February, the new £995 2go streamer/server introduces high-resolution streaming to Chord Electronics' multi-award-winning Hugo 2 DAC/headphone. The compact Hugo 2 addition also brings with it 2x 2 TB-rated SD card slots for digital storage and playback. So, as well as Wi-Fi and Ethernet capable streaming, the 2go enables Hugo 2 to become a portable, high-capacity solid-state digital music server (using MPD).
Based around a powerful triple-core audio processor, 2go's proprietary streaming circuit has been skilfully engineered into a slender chassis. Additionally, thanks to its on-board battery, playback can be enjoyed without any nasties brought in through mains power.
As well as 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, 2go also offers A2DP Bluetooth for wireless operation. However, for those wanting perfect stability and plug-and-play service, wired Gigabit Ethernet is the winner, here. Set-up is via Chord Electronics' recently refreshed Gofigure app.
Also, 2go plays nice with a comprehensive list of audio sources including Tidal, Qobuz and Internet radio playback with Spotify (and others) earmarked for the future. Furthermore, 2go is Roon Ready and so offers gapless audio and DoP/Bit Perfect support, as well as being fully DLNA-compliant (server/renderer) and AirPlay-ready.
Hugely convenient is 2go's auto-switching input function. Every audio interface is always on, therefore switching between inputs is as easy as hitting 'play' on the chosen control point app. This is a neat feature that gives you a seamless user experience when playing music from different sources or even streaming services.
Like all of Chord Electronics' hardware, 2go is handmade in the UK and shares the same aircraft-grade aluminium casework, along with design cues from the Hugo 2.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
