ELECTROCOMPANIET ANNOUNCES NEW EC LIVING RELEASES
You've likely come across the Electrocompaniet Classic line of high-performance HiFi components in your audiophile journey. Designed and produced in Norway, Electrocompaniet's more recent EC Living line is high-tech, yet a simple and elegant way to bring wireless HiFi music into and throughout your home.
To be released next week at the High End Show in Munich, Germany, Electrocompaniet has announced new products within the range that already included wireless speakers.
The Rena S-1 is a network streamer that can be connected to your existing audio system. It provides a way to connect directly to your existing amplifier, whilst still having the possibility of adding wireless speakers later. Electrocompaniet see the RENA S-1 as an affordable and future-proof way of entering the realm of EC Living.
The DAC will support up to 24bit/192kHz and DSD up to DSD 128 (5.6 MHz). Connections include USB for external storage, S/PDIF TOSLINK input, S/PDIF COAX input, Gigabit Ethernet (1000Mbps), Coaxial S/PDIF out, Stereo analog RCA output along with 802.11 AC WiFi with MIMO.
Streaming supports Airplay, Spotify Connect, TIDAL, WiMP, Qobuz, and Internet Radio.
The Rena S-1 Wireless Streamer features a stylish aluminium chassis and is available in three attractive finishes (undescribed at this time, but appear to be silver, black and copper).
Electrocompaniet's Rena SA-1 is step up again. It offers all the features of the S-1, containing both a streamer and a compact but powerful digital amplifier for upgrading your existing loudspeaker system with next-generation audio streaming. It connects directly to your existing loudspeakers, and Electrocompaniet says it can easily drive even the biggest of speakers.
The amplifiers is rated at 2 x 75w Class D and the specifications are as per S-1, with the addition of 2 x speaker terminals (4-16Ω).
Rounding out the new releases is the Sira L-1 Wireless Subwoofer. Electrocompaniet says that "even though the EC Living SIRA L-1 has the power of a large subwoofer, it's still compact".
The 300w subwoofer can be connected wirelessly to the Rena S-1 and SA-1 streamer and streaming amplifier, and like the wireless speakers connects at 24bit/96kHz resolution.
The entire range is quite evidently Scandanavian in design, offered in multiple high-end finishes and would easily compliment any living space with the convenience of high-res music without all the cables and components.
StereoNET looks forward to taking a closer look at the Electrocompaniet EC Living range when they're available later this year. Local pricing has not yet been confirmed.
