Kudos KS-1 Speaker Cable Now Available

Kudos Audio has launched its KS-1 speaker cable for sale.

During The Bristol Hi-Fi Show 2020, Kudos Audio, better known for its Isobaric loudspeakers, announced that its KS-1 loudspeaker cable is available for retail sale.

Kudos KS-1 Speaker Cable

The KS-1 speaker cable was developed by the County Durham manufacturer around a year ago as internal wiring for the maker's high-end loudspeakers. Kudos says that KS-1 is the result of the KISS (keep it simple, stupid) principle of design: "the right materials, well-executed win over fancy marketing related engineering every time."

What we have are 19 strands of 15AWG silver-plated Oxygen-Free Copper, insulated with Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP) with a slow twist and all surrounded by a hard PVC outer for protection, physical damping and simplicity of use. Kudos says that the cable has a 0.15 Ohm loop resistance on a typical 5m run.

FEP shares PTFE's ideal low dielectric constant but is a little softer for improved mechanical damping. The choice of 19 strands is not random: there were multiple listening tests carried out to identify sonic differences from the number of strands changing while keeping the overall conductor diameter the same. Nineteen proved to be ideal, says Kudos.

Price and availability

Kudos will supply KS-1 to retailers in 100m drums to allow termination and length as the customer requires.

Kudos anticipate that KS-1 will cost £30 per linear metre unterminated.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
