GALLERY: 2018 HI-FI DELUXE, MUNICH

Amid what has become commonly known as "Munich Madness", the four days in May each year where the world's Hi-Fi industry descends on Munich, Germany for the High End show, a smaller, feeder show takes place at the Marriot Hotel from Thursday through Saturday.
Most brands take up residence at the Marriot until they can secure a space at the High End's MOC venue which year on year, is sold out. Others prefer the smaller crowds, the better room acoustics and the larger rooms available at the Marriot.
You can expect to find the exotic, the odd and unique, and the up and coming brands here. We'll save our thoughts on specific brands and products for individual stories in the coming weeks, but here's a selection of photos from Hi-Fi Deluxe, Munich 2018.
We do want to take a moment to acknowledge two Australian brands appearing separately at the show, Holton Amplifiers and new Aussie brand, M8audio. It requires an enormous amount of resources to exhibit at a show on the other side of the world, so credit to both of them.
StereoNET is reviewing the M8audio range of loudspeakers currently, so stay tuned for those. You will also get this opportunity to hear this brand for yourself at the 2018 Melbourne International Hi-Fi Show, October 12-14 at the Pullman Mercure Hotel, Albert Park. Tickets on sale (50% discount with code BESTSHOW).

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
