Acoustic Energy Corinium UK Audio Show Preview

Following its Munich unveiling, Acoustic Energy's Corinium flagship loudspeaker will make its UK debut at the UK Audio Show 2023.
Teased back in July but only just confirmed, Acoustic Energy's "most significant loudspeaker to date" will be making a special appearance at the UK Audio Show 2023 ahead of its official launch. Corinium is the latest addition to the British speaker maker's lineup of loudspeakers and, so we are told, is the culmination of a three-year project for the company's in-house design team.
The result is a next-generation floorstanding loudspeaker, which the brand predicts will elevate Acoustic Energy into the high-end sector and "set further new standards in sound, design and value".
Corinium starts with the same carbon fibre drivers used in the 500 Series, offering a good blend of mass, stiffness and damping. However, AE knew they could go further, we're told. A new cone design was specially developed with a low hysteresis motor system to provide the best efficiency and greatest possible performance… leading the company to its second generation of carbon fibre drivers. One 120mm carbon fibre driver performs midrange duties, while two 140mm carbon fibre bass drivers take care of the lower frequencies.
The 29mm tweeter features a soft dome encased in a synthetic polyester material called Tetoron. This newly developed tweeter design has now proven to lower colouration, they say, and “increase delicate high-speed transients and reproduce the very finest detail and refinement”.
Sounds too good to miss? Well, head over to Staverton Park in Daventry on October 7th and 8th for the UK Audio Show 2023, where you will find Acoustic Energy in the Chelmsford Suite on the first floor.
As well as the show-stopping Corinium, we are promised a selection of other loudspeakers on display, from the compact AE1002 to the Applause Award-winning AE520 floorstanders.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
