ADD ALEXA TO EXISTING HI-FI SYSTEMS & SPEAKERS

Announced today, Amazon has released the Echo Input which is an inexpensive way of adding Alexa voice control to any existing audio system.
Amazon's Echo Input is a slim, low profile 'puck' that will blend seamlessly into any room and conveniently connect to an existing speaker or hi-fi system via an included 3.5mm audio cable or via Bluetooth.
Echo Input is Amazon's first Echo device where all audio is designed to come from an external speaker that the company says:
... provides customers with an even more affordable way to add Alexa to the speaker of their choice, or the speaker they already own.
Like other Echo products, Input features a custom four-microphone array so you can talk to Alexa from across the room—even while music is playing. Just ask, and Alexa will answer questions, play music, read the news, control your smart home, add items to your To-Do list, and much more.
Echo Input will also feature as an additional zone and can be included in existing Multi-room Music groups configured from the Alexa app.
With thousands of local skills available in Australia, with a wide range developed by local brands, you can get the news from ABC or Fox Sports or tune into the big game with AFL live streams. Or stream your preferred Australian radio station with RadioApp.
The Echo Input is available online now for $55, and will also be available at JB Hi-Fi stores this week.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
