Alan Parsons Munich Mix Master Class

Alan Parsons is holding a Mixing Master Class in Munich ahead of the High End show this year.

Alan Parsons High End Munich 2020Dark Side Of The Moon engineer, Alan Parsons, will lead a Mixing master class at SAE Institute in Munich before performing his duties as Brand Ambassador of Munich High End 2020.

Alan Parsons has enjoyed a multi-Platinum career working as an engineer, producer, mixer and artist since starting out as a tape op at Abbey Road studios working with The Beatles. He then went on to work with Pink Floyd, John Miles (he produced Miles' iconic Music), and The Alan Parsons Project. He has made peerless sounding recordings his stock-in-trade.

The Master Class takes place on May 13th, where Alan will call up two sessions he produced. Firstly, there's Don't Answer Me, a big hit in 1984 from his Ammonia Avenue album. The second comes from his recent series of 'Master Class Training Sessions' (MCTS) that he conducts around the world.

Alan Parsons inaugurated his live MCTS events in 2012 as part of his Art And Science Of Sound Recording project that includes a complete Music Production Curriculum for school and college Recording Arts and Audio Engineering programs.

Event producer and Alan Parsons' business partner Julian Colbeck told StereoNET:

It's invaluable for attendees to be able to hear a song they know really well being analysed and dissected. But when you're learning, it's equally important to work on new material that doesn't come with any sonic baggage or preconceived notions about how it should sound.

The Mix Room at SAE Munich features an SSL4000G+ board, and this will be an analogue summed mix going back into ProTools.

This Munich Master Class is a rare opportunity to learn the tricks of the trade straight from Alan Parsons himself. You will get an insight of Parsons' method regarding EQ, processing, dynamics (*SPOILER* Alan isn't a fan of compression on his mixes), stereo positioning and balance.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality.
