Back To The Future For B&O

Bang & Olufsen took its inspiration for the new BeoVision Avant LED TV from the set launched in 1995 and which romped home as the brand’s best ever selling TV.
The BeoVision Avant is leading edge and then some. It has Ultra High 4K Definition (4K) video performance and an amazing sound system.
The new TV features a sliding sound panel that appears and unravels from under the set the second it’s turned on. The panel retreats and disappears when the Avant is powered off.
The Avant’s seamless moving parts are so complex B&O used two teams to bring the design to fruition. One team focused on the sound panel which is crammed full of speakers and the other created a stunning news range of stands designed to move the entire TV into the best viewing position when the set is powered. When it’s turned off the TV reverts to what B&O describes as a ‘’wall hugging position.''
“Bang & Olufsen has always had clear criteria for integrating movement into products,” explains Nielsen, a concept manager in the product definition team. “First of all, it has to improve the user experience in a significant way. We think movement must have meaning and solve a user need rather than just add some wow factor.”
“Second, and this is where things get subjective, we want movement as smooth and natural as we can make it. This isn’t a goal in itself, but we pursue it because this naturalness is how our brains perceive beauty in motion; it’s just how we’re wired. And that natural beauty is what we’re going for in our products.”
“Finally, movement and moving parts must be designed and engineered and as carefully as everything else we do. Timing, physical components and the sound of motion all have to blend seamlessly with the product’s overall aesthetic, be simple and safe to use, and last for the entire product lifetime.”
Bang & Olufsen has also released the unique BeoRemote One for personalised settings. It features a ''MyButtons” setting which enables the user to create up to three personalised settings available at one simple touch. A setting can include channel, volume setting and even stand and directional positioning of the TV. This allows you to recall all settings by the touch of one button.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
