BANG & OLUFSEN MOVES TO MJ GROUP

Following the unexpected announcement last week by fashion and luxury brand distributor, Kennedy Luxury Group, that they would cease Bang & Olufsen distribution in Australia effective immediately, Singapore-based MJ Group has emerged as the new local distributor.

A communication received this morning from Bang & Olufsen said:

We would like to inform you that Kennedy Luxury Group will no longer hold distribution of Bang & Olufsen. Bang & Olufsen has with immediate effect appointed MJ Invest Pte Ltd as master dealer of the Australian and New Zealand network.

StereoNET attended the exclusive Kennedy-organised B&O Melbourne 'Sensory Store' grand opening back in 2016, a world-class store showcasing the brand's products. At the time, the Melbourne store was one of only four worldwide and most impressive. The future of the luxury audio brand certainly looked bright.

At the event, a senior executive of the company at the time told us that long-term, B&O was looking to build a specialist dealer network in Australia. More recently, Melbourne retailer Tivoli Hi-Fi signed on and has recently undergone significant renovations of its shop to showcase the Bang & Olufsen brand in-store.

The letter also goes on to state that, "there will be changes in current store locations that may have an impact on you and your existing Bang & Olufsen product."

MJ Group in an independent entity and not part of the Bang & Olufsen company, but distributes the brand in more than 30 countries throughout South East Asia, South Asia, Middle East, Africa, Central & Eastern Europe.

It is understood that MJ Group will handle logistics and service Bang & Olufsen in the Australian and New Zealand markets directly from Singapore.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
