EXCLUSIVE: BENQ ANNOUNCES THE LATEST WEAPON IN THEIR 4K PROJECTOR ARSENAL

Announced today, BenQ have announced the availability of their LK970 4K UHD BlueCore Laser projector.
Building upon their already successful 4K range, the LK970 is said to deliver breathtakingly realistic image quality thanks to a unique combination of best-in-class features and incredible 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution, 8.3million distinct pixels and 5,000 ANSI-lumen brightness.
Johnny Huang, BenQ America’s Product Manager told StereoNET:
With our LK970, we’ve combined 4K with our powerful BlueCore laser engine to raise the bar on brightness performance and installation flexibility,
The result is an incredibly clear, bright and vibrant picture for a variety of environments. The picture quality is so impressive, even in ambient light, that not only can it be used as an incredible home theatre centrepiece but also in challenging pro AV scenarios, including commercial simulations, digital imaging, mapping and immersive gallery displays.
BenQ have employed Texas Instruments’ latest DLP chip which is complemented by a dual colour wheel which BenQ says has been specifically engineered to project rich, saturated colour with superior accuracy.
The BlueCore laser technology also guarantees reliable projection from any angle with a long-lasting 20,000-hour rating. Users can also choose from three different light source modes to optimise energy use and extend the projector’s life up to 60,000 hours in Eco Mode.
The lens is a 1.47:1 standard zoom and the throw distance is listed as 13.9-20.1 feet. Horizontal as well as vertical lens shift features and a big zoom lens are also included.
Air-tight-sealed laser modules are used to eliminate dust that can damage the DMD chip and internal components, while a liquid cooling system is added to protect the engine from overheating.
The LK970 is also compatible with Creston, AMX and Extron control systems for convenient system integration with various third-party devices.
The BenQ LK970 will be available in Australia and New Zealand in October this year and is expected to sell locally for $12,999 RRP. Like all of the flagship projectors in BenQ's range, the local price is on parity with the US.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
