BenQ TK850 4K Projector Unboxing Video

StereoNET's Tony O'Brien unboxes and gives a brief overview of BenQ's new TK850 4K UHD DLP projector that is ideal for living areas and the upcoming rebooted sports seasons.
Aimed at sporting enthusiasts, the 3000 lumens of high brightness and >98% coverage of Rec. 709 colour gamut, BenQ says the TK850 offers strikingly vivid colours even in brightly-lit living rooms.
Where movie buffs and videophiles are chasing the blackest of blacks and have embraced the award-winning W2700 projector, the TK850 was designed from the ground up to "take full advantage of 4K HDR broadcasts of live sporting events to deliver breathtaking realism on a grand scale."
BenQ says its "exclusive projector-optimised HDR-PRO technology with HDR10/HLG support utilises dynamic iris control and HDR brightness for enhanced tone mapping to produce spectacular brightness and contrast to reveal every detail of HDR-format Blu-ray and broadcasts. "
The TK850's dedicated Sports Mode is said to enhance video quality with realistic skin tones, offer naturally balanced blues and greens for gorgeous fields of grass, and warm woodgrains for indoor sports action.
It's versatile too with vertical lens shift, 1.3X zoom, and short-throw projection, allowing it to fit into almost any space.
The BenQ TK850 is available now and sells for $2,999 RRP. Stay tuned for StereoNET's in-depth review.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
