BENQ ANNOUNCES W2700 4K HDR-PRO PROJECTOR

BenQ has announced the W2700 projector that it says is the world's first DCI-P3 Colour Gamut 4K HDR-PRO Short Throw Projector.

The CinePrime W2700 DLP projector delivers true 4K (non-native) 3840x2160 resolution with 8.3 million distinct pixels from the latest 0.47" single-DMD DLP chipset.

The 4K-optimised optical systems consist of 8 structured groups of 10 all-glass lens elements, resulting in what BenQ says is "brilliant light transmission and ultimate image quality".

Martin Moelle, Managing Director of BenQ Australia, told StereoNET:

W2700 introduces budding movie fanatics to real enthusiast-level cinema performance,

Astounding 4K visuals with precise HDR colour combined with powerful image adjustability and installation flexibility to perfectly suit small audio-visual screening rooms and living rooms.

The W2700 features exclusive HDR-PRO technology supporting both HDR10 and HLG formats and incorporates auto colour and tone mapping techniques to offer superior brightness and contrast ranges.

CinematicColor technology featured in the W2700 is said to provide 95% coverage of the super wide DCI-P3 colour space and 100% of Rec. 709, backed by individual factory colour calibration reports.

The compact profile and lightweight W2700 offers versatility when it comes to installation with short throw, 1.3X zoom, and vertical lens shift.

The BenQ W2700 Projector will be available in Australia from March 2019 and will sell for $2,499 RRP.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
