Bose Releases SoundLink III Bluetooth Speaker

They just keep coming! Bose is the latest of the traditional AV brands to unveil a new wireless speaker.
It’s the SoundLink® Bluetooth® speaker III, which bolsters Bose’s SoundLink® product line. Bose says the SoundLink® Bluetooth® speaker III is its 'best-performing Bluetooth speaker yet, delivering a new level of audio performance, an all-new design, longer battery life, and accessory covers in five colours.’
The new SoundLink allows wireless streaming from smartphones, tablets or other Bluetooth devices.
The new model carries Bose proprietary sound technologies as well as four neodymium drivers and dual-opposing passive radiators, new digital signal processing algorithm and enhanced electronics. It goes louder than the previous model and is said to remain poised with a natural sound quality at higher listening levels.
The SoundLink® III looks good and typically Bose is well made and engineered for durability and rugged day-to-day portable use.
Its new industrial design is inspired by the SoundLink® Mini Bluetooth® speaker -- sturdily built, with curved edges and a thin profile that eliminates the need for a built-in cover or stand. A silicone button panel protects from dirt and dust, and a wraparound metal grille resists fingerprints. For personalisation and added protection, new accessory covers are available in gray, blue, green, orange and pink.
The SoundLink® III weighs 1.36kg, and measures 12.7cm high, 25.4cm wide and only 5.1cm deep. It comes with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that delivers up to 14 hours of listening. More than ample to get you through the day.
Wireless music streaming is via Bluetooth® A2DP, using a powerful antenna for a reliable connection. Pairing and/or switching a Bluetooth device is made easy with new Bluetooth LED signal lights. SoundLink 111 will store six of your most recently connected Bluetooth devices so you don’t have to go through the process of pairing a second time.
Ease of use is a given. SoundLink can be controlled by buttons on the top of the speaker, or through your smartphone.
The new SoundLink® Bluetooth® speaker III is now available and will retail for AU$399 (NZ$549). The SoundLink III will be available from authorised Bose resellers, Bose retail stores, Bose.com.au and Bose.co.nz and toll-free at 1800 173 371.
Accessory covers are available separately for AU$49.95 (NZ$64.95) each.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
