Braun Audio is Officially Back in Australia and New Zealand

The bold return of Braun Audio was announced in early 2019, and a brand-new range of high-end speakers, inspired by the iconic LE1, was unveiled later that year. Aqipa has emerged as the exclusive distributor for Australia and New Zealand two years later.

Christopher Scott, General Manager of Aqipa APAC, told StereoNET:

Braun Audio has a strong history of innovation and design and we are delighted to be part of this welcome return. The new LE Series combines Braun’s iconic design ethos with the latest audio innovations to deliver an outstanding premium audio experience.

The brand is kicking off with a timeless reinvention of its classic LE speakers from 1959. The Braun classics and Dieter Rams’ influence on them remain iconic today, with the products among the most sought-after audio collectibles in the world.

The LE speakers encapsulate the enduring, essentialist design values of a brand steeped in heritage and craftsmanship. The LE range comprises three speakers, the flagship model LE01, mid-sized LE02 and compact LE03. These premium Hi-Fi smart speakers are available in black or white, tuned to perfection and built to stand the test of time.

All LE speakers are engineered to deliver exceptional detail and clarity at any volume setting. And the unparalleled dispersion of the Balanced Mode Radiator (BMR) drive units provides a near 180-degree soundstage, meaning that the units are always easy to position without the worry of a specific sweet spot of traditional speakers.

The LE speakers have multiroom functionality and the ability to be wirelessly stereo paired. Individually, when positioned in landscape mode, LE01 and LE02 will perform as perfect integrated stereo speakers. When in portrait orientation, using floor stands or wall mounts, they can be configured into a stereo pair with each speaker assuming single audio channel duties (left or right).

Placement EQ settings in the mobile app will tailor the playback dependent on where the speaker is in the room to achieve the authentic Braun sound. The Braun Audio app will also allow for additional manual fine-tuning to deliver preferred bass and treble levels.

The LE series offers more than a premium sound experience. The speakers also serve as a control hub for your smart home and come equipped with smart speaker functionality. With Google Assistant built-in, you can play music, find answers on Google Search, manage everyday tasks, and easily control smart devices around your home – just by using your voice. With Chromecast built-in, the LE range supports over 300 streaming services, while regular software updates ensure system longevity.

Each speaker’s premium machined aluminium surround is beautiful to the touch while highly durable. Their simple, minimalist button configuration and LED sequences are intuitive and embody the perfect blend of aesthetics and utility. This considered design extends to accessories like wall mounts and floor stands, which elegantly resolve cable management and offer the flexibility of placement around the home.

The LE speakers are available now and sell in Australia for $490.00 (LE03), $990.00 (LE02) and $1,990.00 (LE01).

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
