Bryston BP-19 Preamplifier Shipping Soon

Bryston's BP-19 ultra-high-performance analogue preamplifier borrows from the BR-20's development and offers an optional BP-2 phono stage.
The BP-19 benefits from the trickle-down of design innovations achieved during Bryston's development of the BR-20 streaming preamplifier. It boasts a fully balanced signal path design from input to output. Furthermore, we're told that it uses an array of tightly matched components and a compact circuit architecture, achieving the lowest possible noise and superior common mode rejection.
The Canadian high-end hi-fi firm states the BP-19 preamplifier reproduces music effortlessly thanks to an oversized toroidal power transformer and only the finest hand-selected premium components with the optimised discrete operational amplifier delivering a staggeringly low quoted THD+N measurement at or below 0.0006%.
The BP-19 also employs an advanced volume attenuator which Bryston says ensures long-lasting, quiet, linear performance.
Around the rear, the complement of inputs includes two pairs of balanced XLR input jacks and four pairs of RCA input connectors. These are accompanied by two pairs of RCA outputs (one pair fixed, one pair variable) and two pair of balanced XLR outputs (one pair fixed, one pair variable).
Additionally, and for the first time, Bryston offers the option of including its well-regarded BP-2 moving magnet (MM) phono stage circuit onboard the BP-19 preamp. The BP-2 is highly accurate, offers extremely low noise and minuscule distortion, and provides headroom margins sufficient to prevent overload from any known phono source. Bryston also offers specially designed, custom-made outboard step-up transformers to accommodate low-output Moving Coil (MC) cartridge designs.
Controlling the BP-19's features is via the included infrared remote, with each of the six analogue inputs having corresponding buttons on the remote and front panel of the preamp. HEX codes are also available for use with a universal-style remote control. Also, the BP-19 preamplifier can be controlled remotely using RS232 or IP when connected to a smart home ecosystem via the RS232 or Ethernet ports on the rear panel. Finally, the BP-19 can also be remotely turned on or placed on standby, and trigger outputs can power on/off other connected equipment, such as a power amplifier.
Making the BP-19 even easier to integrate into your home is the five standard faceplate finishes in 17 or 19-inch widths. 19-inch rack mounts for professional applications are also available. Bryston also offers personalised custom faceplate colours for the BP-19 and other electronics. You can choose from standard colours or create a bespoke finish to suit any entertainment space or décor.
The Bryston BP-19 preamplifier is expected to land in Q3 2023, with UK prices starting at £5,395. Adding an MM phono stage takes it to £6,395 and having both MM and MC phono boards installed brings the BP-19 up to £7,395.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
