Cambridge Audio Announces New Alva TT V2 and Alva ST Turntables
Cambridge Audio updates its Alva TT and introduces a more affordable Alva ST turntable at CES 2022.
Cambridge Audio's Alva TT was launched as the world's first aptX HD Bluetooth turntable back in 2019. CES sees the Alva TT V2 hit the stage as the British brand announces the next-gen streaming deck alongside an all-new and more affordable sibling.
The Alva TT V2 retains the original's direct-drive design, pre-installed Alva MC cartridge, and, of course, the aptX HD Bluetooth 24bit/48kHz streaming skills enabling you to stream your vinyl wirelessly to headphones or speakers.
However, the updated version also benefits from a new-and-improved tonearm complete with a detachable headshell, increasing upgrade options. The new arm has a quoted effective length of 221.5mm with a 19mm overhang and stated 19.6g of effective mass. Additionally, you get a switchable phono stage and the option to turn the Bluetooth transmitter off.
ALVA ST TURNTABLE
Joining the Alva family is Cambridge Audio's brand new Alva ST. This is a more affordable belt-drive design complemented by a 1mm aluminium top plate and a vibration-dampening absorption layer on top of MDF. Here you get an Audio Technica AT-VM95e moving magnet cartridge fitted as standard, which you can easily swap out later when the time comes.
Finally, being an Alva turntable, you still get aptX HD Bluetooth streaming, as well as the same new tonearm and switchable phono stage as the Alva TT V2.
The Cambridge Audio Alva TT V2 (£1,700/ €1,999) and Alva ST (£850/ €999) turntables are available from spring 2022.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
