Campfire Audio announces new and updated Earphones for 2020

Oregon USA's Campfire Audio, one of the go-to in-ear monitor brands for head-fi enthusiasts, has announced new models and product updates for 2020.

The new releases include the newly updated Solaris 2020 and Andromeda 2020, and the brand-new Ara 7-driver earphone.

Solaris 2020

Campfire Audio says its new Solaris is "20% smaller than the original version, with a new all black finish and a new solid-body internal acoustic chamber design – 3D printed to provide more controlled tuning and even more reliability."

There are also new updates to the included accessories, with a new 'Super Smokey Litz' silver plated copper cable fitted with moulded ear hooks (no memory wire), and a new sustainably harvested cork zipper case in Brown, said to be hand made in Portugal.

Andromeda 2020

The new Andromeda for 2020 has been updated and is said to include a new solid-body internal acoustic chamber, "which has been designed to enhance the sound of the classic Andromeda with more detail retrieval and improved vocal presence."

Included with the Andromeda 2020 is the new cork zipper case in Green - also hand made in Portugal.

Caleb Rosenau, Campfire Audio's VP, said:

This is our first significant refresh of Andromeda and Solaris since their original product launch. Both models are appreciable improvements upon their predecessors, and we think people will enjoy the changes we've made to them.

Ara

The brand new addition to Campfire Audio's range is the Ara. According to the company, "the new Ara uses titanium shells which house seven balanced armature drivers inside each earphone, with dual high, single mid and quad low drivers arranged inside the new solid-body internal acoustic chamber design. Campfire Audio's most ambitious release to date."

Caleb added:

Ara is a new design with seven drivers that has a very resolving and appealing sound signature for the audiophile.

Local pricing and availability have not yet been announced, but the Ara model is expected to sit between the brand's Andromeda and Solaris for price.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
