Campfire Audio Vega and Dorado IEMs Get a 2020 Refresh

Campfire Audio has announced two ceramic-bodied additions to its universal IEM line-up, the Vega 2020 and Dorado 2020.

The Campfire Audio Vega 2020 and Dorado 2020 are a spin on the earlier popular models and sees updates and refinements such as newly developed ceramic housings and updated accessories.

The Vega 2020 boasts a larger 10mm full range ADLC (Amorphous Diamond-Like Carbon) diaphragm dynamic driver each side which promises increased detail and a quoted 5Hz-20kHz frequency response. Additionally, the Vega 2020 has a stated SPL of 94dB @ 1k and 36 Ohm @ 1k impedance.

The drivers are wrapped in an all-new ceramic body style that features a stainless steel spout and round Beryllium / Copper MMCX connectors.

The updated Campfire Audio Dorado 2020 unites a single custom 10mm ADLC Diaphragm Dynamic Driver with a special high frequency single balanced armature driver in a unique black ceramic enclosure that tapers to a "midnight grey" PVD Brass spout.

The result is a true hybrid sound that creates well-defined resolution rounded off with a mighty rumble in the low end, says Campfire Audio. The company states that the Dorado 2020 has a frequency response of 5Hz-22kHz, a 94dB @ 1k SPL and 10 Ohm @ 1k impedance.

Finally, the Dorado 2020 also sports round Beryllium / Copper MMCX connectors.

Furthermore, both models come supplied with a range of spares and accessories including the new Campfire Audio upcycled marine plastic zipper case, smoky jacket silver-plated Litz cable with moulded hooks, a wide range of 'Marshmallow' and silicone tips, a cleaning tool and a badge.

Both universal IEMs are available now with the Vega 2020 priced at £899 and the Dorado 2020 coming in at £1099.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
