Chord Electronics Huei Phono Stage now available

Chord Electronics' Huei phono stage is now available following its international launch in May at High End Munich.
StereoNET was there when Chord Electronics revealed its Huei (pronounced Huey) phono stage in Munich.
The British firm's new high-performance phono preamp shares design features and a form factor with the StereoNET Applause Award-winning Qutest DAC.
Small and Flexible
It might be squeezed into a space-saving chassis, but Huei still sports Moving Magnet and Moving Coil functionality.
Additionally, Huei offers compatibility with a vast range of cartridges thanks to comprehensive gain and impedance-matching options. The unit's high- and low-gain switching settings are easily accessible via the typically Chord-tastic spherical front-panel controls.
Huei also receives Chord Electronics' ultra-low-noise microprocessor to control its main features, including a convenient memory function. That happens to be a first for a Chord Electronics phono stage.
With multiple options for impedance-matching, seven-stage switchable gain plus a switchable rumble filter, Huei features comprehensive system compatibility.
Strong and Versatile
Precision-machined from aircraft-grade aluminium billet, Huei has the 'Qutest' form factor and benefits from a top-mounted viewing window into the illuminated custom electronics within.
Huei is a highly versatile, high-performance solution for integrating turntables into high-quality audio systems and features both balanced (RCA) and unbalanced outputs (XLR) with RCA inputs. A 12V external power supply is also supplied.
Price and availability
Huei is priced at £990 and is available now in Henry Ford's favourite colour options - black.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
