Denon’s DCD-3000NE CD/SACD Player Offers Pristine Playback
Denon's new top-flight 3000NE CD/SACD player promises unprecedented sonic detail.
Denon is closing this year as it opened 2023, with a new CD/SACD player - this time for its premium 3000 line - in the shape of the reference series DCD-3000NE CD/SACD player.
This is great news for those with large digital disc collections, as the format seems to be enjoying a revival. This also means more newcomers to the medium, and undoubtedly, both groups will be keen to get the most out of their compact discs. If you want to learn more about CDs, check out our two-part Inside Track feature: Part One | Part Two.
Denon boasts that the DCD-3000NE has been meticulously tuned and will "reveal unprecedented sonic detail in all of your favourite music."
Discs are loaded via Denon's patented vibration suppression drive mechanism, promising swift loading and precision spinning so the player can read the data accurately. The DCD-3000NE offers a decent number of digital playback options, including CD, SACD, DSD (2.8MHz/5.6MHz), DVD-R/RW, and DVD+R/RW files up to 192kHz/24-bit and CD-R/RW content.
The DCD-3000NE features a "high-performance" 32-bit/384kHz DAC "in quad configuration" along with the brand's Ultra AL32 processing, which uses interpolation algorithms to produce high-resolution output. It supports input signals up to 384kHz/24-bit and "upsamples for smoother waveforms and improved sound reproduction."
The DAC is partnered with high-quality internal components and an advanced master clock to deliver distortion-free sound. For further noise mitigation, the 'Pure Direct' mode turns off the display and digital outputs to prevent interference from affecting the audio signal.
The 3000NE CD/SACD player offers an analogue RCA stereo pair, one digital coaxial, and one digital optical for output. It also comes bundled with a remote control.
The Denon DCD-3000NE is available in black or silver finishes priced at £2,200/ €2,500. /US$2,999

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
