Densen Audio Technologies Breathes New Life Into Older Models

Densen's CAST line of products was its first venture into the streaming market, but now a new generation is emerging with its brand new range of 'Oxygen' products.
Densen says its new range of dedicated streaming devices is coming soon. Still, its first product is the Oxygen Module – an expansion module which allows the user to upgrade almost any Densen pre- or integrated amplifier to become a streaming amplifier without the need of any additional external devices.
Fans of the Densen brand will already be familiar with the Oxygen name. It's been in development for years and teased for just as long. While a release date has never been offered, Densen says, "we wanted to wait until we knew the best possible sound experience for the money had been created."
Available from June this year, the Oxygen Module lives up to Densen's promise of continued upgradability and expandability for their amplifiers. It will also allow older models such as the original B-150 amplifier – now 15 years old – to be upgraded to the modern era of streaming.
Chris Strom, General Manager of Radiance AV which distributes Densen in Australia, said:
The system is built around a 32-bit DAC architecture allowing for high-res streaming directly from Tidal, Deezer, Amazon Music, Spotify, Qobuz and many more. Everything is controlled from the Densen companion app (iOS and Android), which also allows for multi-room control of your Densen systems fitted with Oxygen Technology.
It is expected that later this year Densen will release a stand-alone streamer built around the same Oxygen system. Densen says it features "an extremely overkill power supply with 90 VA toroidal power supply, no less than 16 Custom made Densen capacitors giving the unit an enormous capacitor bank of 160.000 uF – more than what you find in many integrated amplifiers, and no less than seven separate rectifiers."
Available now for $2,000 RRP, the Densen oxygen module is compatible with the following Densen amplifiers and variations (PLUS, XS, CAST): B-110, B-120, B-130, B-150, B-175, B-230, B-250, B-275.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
