ELAC’s Hi-Res Wireless Audio
As we've been reporting on the return of ELAC to Australia, one thing is certain, ELAC are here and they're doing it in high-res!
We were more than impressed with the FS77 Loudspeakers we reviewed recently, offering exceptional sound quality and very modest pricing. Enter 'Air-X', a wireless audio system that takes it to a whole next level.
The AIR-X system is a range of products consisting of AIR-X active loudspeakers, and an AIR-X base unit which acts as the central control unit to which a wide variety of sources and output signals can be connected. Audio signals are losslessly transmitted at 24-bit resolution with a sampling rate of 48 kHz, to AIR-X speakers.
Initially two AIR-X compatible speaker models are offered, the AIR-X 403 standmount, and AIR-X 407 floor standing speaker, both comprising the AIR-X class A/B amplifier design. Three amplifiers with a combined output of 225 watts keep the speakers in perfect control, while internal DSP functions allow for comprehensive and extremely precise adjustments to the sound.
Each speaker also has balanced and unbalanced analog inputs on the amplifier unit, enabling the connection of playback equipment in situations where wireless transmission is not desired.
An AIR-X system can also include numerous loudspeakers, all of which can be controlled by one or more AIR-X BASE units. Play the same signal throughout the house or different signals in every room – one BASE unit can control up to three zones.
Australian Distributors for ELAC, Synergy Audio Visual, told StereoNET that the AIR-X range are available now from selected retail outlets via special order only.
