FESTIVAL OF SOUND: FEATURING ART OF NOISE

Art of Noise co-founders JJ Jeczalik and Gary Langan are the latest band to be added to the ever-growing line-up for this year's Festival of Sound. The duo have the headline slot at 8pm on Friday 28 September 2018 at the Novotel London West in Hammersmith.

The concert series is part of Festival of Sound’s new musical programme that has been put together to showcase multiple musical styles and genres. Shows will take place across all three days at the West London venue.

JJ Jeczalik and Gary Langan co-founded the Art of Noise with Anne Dudley, Trevor Horn and Paul Morley in 1983. Together, their new sound, style and approach to experimental pop music resulted in the ground-breaking singles Kiss (ft. Tom Jones), Close (to the Edit), Beat Box and Moments in Love. I still own the 7-inch of their collaboration with Max Headroom – Paranomia.

They also forged what ITV News described recently as "the art of noise movement" producing and playing on game-changing records by the likes of Malcolm McLaren (Buffalo Gals), Yes (Owner of a Lonely Heart) and Scritti Politti (Absolute).

JJ Jeczalik told StereoNET:

Part DJ-set, definitely. Part seminar, maybe. Part Q&A, probably. While we continue to reboot AoN's In Visible Silence in concert with the inimitable Anne Dudley, this is Gary and I jamming the history of the 'art of noise movement' live on stage.  Something for everyone, hopefully.

Gary Langan adds:

What started off as a one-off DJ set looks like it will flourish into something this audience will remember... Live samples, memory dumps and mash-ups. Deconstructing and reconstructing the original tracks, with themes and stories that blend some highlights of our combined back catalogue. With a lot of heart, and a lot of Noise.

Naturally, Festival of Sound will also be bringing the industry’s leading high-quality hi-fi, headphones, portable audio and streaming products back to the Capital. Furthermore, the show aims to break the mould of the current crop of audio industry events.

The event will embrace all things music; from a global premiere of some of the world’s most exclusive audio products, vibrant product demonstrations and innovative equipment showcases; to live musical acts from renowned artists to solo buskers.

Additionally, there will be lessons to master musical instruments, as well as record producer seminars. All these events are aimed at inspiring a multitude of new consumers to try out, listen to and be bowled over by internationally-acclaimed audio and musical brands.

Tickets will be on sale on Tuesday 14 August 2018 and are available at www.festivalofsound.co.uk

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
