Focal 300 ICA6 Angled In-Ceiling Loudspeaker ISE 2022 Debut
Focal unveils the 300 ICA6 angled in-ceiling loudspeaker at ISE 2022 in Barcelona this week.
Focal's 300 ICA6 new in-wall/in-ceiling angled speaker has been inspired by Focal's flagship 1000 Series.
The new speaker slots into the 300 series and sports 6-inch (16.5cm) speaker driver angled at 35°, removing the "shower effect" and enabling it to be installed in several ways, including in corners for fully discreet sound delivery. We're told that this makes it perfect for Dolby Atmos/3D Audio set-ups and more.
Naturally, Focal is proud that the 300 ICA6 features "exclusive Made in France technology" and innovative materials, such as the flax mid/bass driver, the material being sourced from locally grown flax plants.
The flax fibre core is enclosed by two thin layers of glass fibre that provide the critical ingredients of high internal damping, high velocity of sound, and high flexural rigidity. Furthermore, Focal states that the Flax cone results in an authentic listening experience, including voices reproduced with clarity and detail. It also hands these new speakers sonic coherence with the brand's classic loudspeaker lines Aria and Kanta.
The tweeter is a development of Focal's iconic aluminium/ magnesium inverted dome design. Magnesium possesses excellent damping qualities; aluminium has great rigidity, which, together as an alloy, can significantly reduce distortion.
This marriage of metals results in an incredibly rapid impulse response, a very short settlement time, and excellent damping. This, we're informed, enables the tweeter to extend its frequency response beyond 28kHz (-3dB).
Focal says to expect a precise, analytical sound and an extremely deep soundstage from the 300 ICA6. Adding, "the frequency response curve linearity is also remarkable in that it ensures perfect neutrality. As a result, the treble frequencies are dynamic and detailed when listening."
Finally, the 300 ICA6 features Focal's patented Easy Quick Install system for simple, no-tool installation.
The Focal 300 ICA6 will be shown at the ISE in Barcelona this week and available to buy this month priced at £399/ €399.
