Focal Refreshes Aria Range with Evo X Lineup

With the original Aria 900 range released a decade ago and its success since then, French audio brand Focal has announced its successor at CES 2024: The Focal Aria Evo X loudspeakers.
Designed for both a stereo hi-fi experience as well as to be part of a surround sound home theatre set up, the Aria Evo X lineup has five speaker options: a compact bookshelf speaker in the Aria Evo X No.1, floorstanding loudspeakers in the Aria Evo X No.2, No.3 and No.4 models, as well as the Aria Evo X Center to tie a surround sound system together.
The speakers utilise Focal’s M-shaped inverted dome TAM tweeter, which Focal claims will “reproduce the treble more faithfully” by being able to go further into the high and low ends of the spectrum. The magnets in the woofers have also been revamped to provide even more impact and power in the bass. Meanwhile, the crossovers have been reworked and upgraded with better components to improve balance.
In addition, the new speakers’ midrange and bass drivers are constructed with Focal’s iconic flax cone made with French flax fibres to produce a natural sound while boosting the midrange and bass. Last but not least, the surround of the midrange drivers is constructed with Focal’s Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) technology to stabilise it and reduce distortion.
With all that proprietary tech in these speakers, we’re certainly expecting them to live up to the high expectations that we have come to expect from the brand. Focal is also offering a new Moss Green High Gloss finish in addition to the usual Black High Gloss and Prime Walnut finishes.
The Focal Aria Evo X lineup will be available in the US from mid-February. They will sell for Aria Evo X No.1 - $2,398 USD/pair, Aria Evo X N°2 - $4,798 USD/pair, Aria Evo X N°3 - $5,198 USD/pair, Aria Evo X N°4 - $5,998 USD/pair, Aria Evo X Center - $999 USD.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
