Free Audiobook: Children’s Guide to the Orchestra by David Chesky

Renowned composer and musician David Chesky's acclaimed children's book, "Classical Cats: A Children's Guide to the Orchestra," is now available as an audiobook with music, online for free.

Whitney said it best when she wrote, "I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way,". This is entirely relevant today in a world of AI-generated "music" and algorithms attempting to decide what we listen to, how, and when.

Chesky's audiobook features original compositions and narrations by four lovable cartoon characters. It is a fun and engaging way for children to learn about the various instruments in an orchestra and the fundamentals of music theory.

"Classical Cats" is a beautifully illustrated book that introduces children to the world of classical music through a cast of adorable feline characters, Maestro Leopold the conductor, Fidleo the calm violinist, Christina the percussionist, and the Zaney Furbert that is a cellist. The audiobook, accompanied by original music composed by David Chesky, is an immersive experience that brings the story to life.

David Chesky told StereoNET:

I wanted to create an experience that was both educational and fun. Also, by giving this away for free it can be a good tool to help local orchestras to build up a new base of future patrons. By adding music and narration to the book, we're able to create an immersive experience that engages children and helps them to develop a deeper appreciation for classical music.

"Classical Cats" is just one of the many ways that David Chesky has worked to promote classical music and inspire a new generation of music lovers. His compositions have been performed by some of the world's most renowned orchestras, and he is widely recognised as one of the leading composers of our time.

StereoNET interviewed David Chesky in 2018 for insight into his favourite recordings and much more. You can see that interview here.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
