Grell Audio is the new name in the Headphone Market

The name Axel Grell may be unfamiliar to many enthusiasts, but it's widely known and even more respected within the headphone industry. Grell Audio is now likely to become a brand name as well known as some that have been in the market for decades.
Axel is the former chief engineer for Sennheiser and has been at the forefront of headphone design for more than thirty years. But with a startup brand of his own name, Grell now has a new approach. Grell audio's new approach aims to lower the cost for the end-user, ushering in the future of high-res audio. "The sales model is tailored toward the spending habits of the digital age looking for opportunities to save money on high-end products without sacrificing quality for price."
Grell's products will be sold directly through the company's website and through an exclusive pre-order release on Drop.com. The online-only sales model "seeks to remove some of the economic barrier-to-entry for budding audiophiles and to nurture the next generation of sound for tomorrow's listener."
And with the launch comes the announcement of Grell's TWS/1 True Wireless In-ear Headphones - said to deliver audiophile-grade sound quality for consumers who crave crystal clear, transparent audio and a closer connection to their music.
An exclusive version of the Grell True Wireless headphones — the drop + Grell TWS1X — will be available via Drop.com in November following an initial pre-sale period on the company's website.
Axel Grell told StereoNET:
With our focus on audio, alone, we carefully selected custom dynamic transducers, used the best chipset that is available, and the best sounding codecs, shipped directly to the consumer in simple, inexpensive packaging. And this is true for every pair of Grell earphones — giving the user high-end quality, but not at a high-end price.
Features include SoundID-enabled personalisation, and support for codecs including SBC, AAC, Qualcomm aptX, aptX HD, aptX adaptive, LHDC, and are Bluetooth 5.2 compatible. The frequency range is quoted as 6 Hz–22 kHz.
The Grell Audio TWS/1 True Wireless In-ear Headphones will sell for £179.99/ €199.99 MSRP.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
