Harman Kardon Citation Streaming Amplifier Launched

Harman Kardon's latest addition to its Citation line is a compact Class D amplifier with streaming smarts.
The Citation Amp from Harman Kardon packs hi-res streaming and enough grunt to power most speakers whether they be bookshelf, floor-standing or in-wall. Furthermore, you can combine it with other Harman Kardon Citation products to create a multi-channel wireless surround sound system.
Firstly this compact (215x75x230mm) unit boasts 125 watts of Class D amplification per channel into 8 ohms or 200W into 4 ohms, a wide selection of connections including HDMI ARC, Coax, Optical and RCA, and a quoted frequency response of 20Hz-20kHz. Additionally, there's a line out and a subwoofer output, too.
As well as Wi-Fi, there is Bluetooth 4.2 for wireless streaming. It also hands you access to over 300 music streaming services through Chromecast built-in and AirPlay.
The Citation Amp features Harman Kardon Digital Loop amplification that, we're told, corrects the natural errors and distortion anomalies that occur in digital amplification.
You can optimise the amp for your speakers, as well as the room, thanks to an adjustable EQ, and customisable settings for maximum volume, mono summing and subwoofer crossover.
Harman Kardon has designed the Citation Amp to effortlessly blend into any environment. This "discrete yet premium" amplifier can be installed anywhere. It's compatible with popular connected home automation control systems, including both Control4 and Crestron.
The Harman Kardon Citation Amp will be available later this month for £549.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
