Improved Audio Promised by Tangent’s DAC II & Ampster TV II
Tangent announces DAC II compact pre-amp/headphone amp alongside the telly-audio improving Ampster TV II.
Tangent has announced the release of two brand-new products to add to its range of affordable hi-fi components in the compact DAC II and Ampster TV II.
Tangent's DAC II is loaded with a premium Sabre 24-bit Stereo Audio DAC and is pitched as "a solution for anyone who has a traditional amp but now needs a cost-effective, compact pre-amp". Additionally, the compact component boasts a coaxial, USB, and two optical digital inputs, as well as optical, RCA and XLR balanced outputs.
Thanks to aptX Bluetooth, the DAC can stream music directly from your phone or source player; it also doubles up as a dedicated headphone amplifier via its 6.3mm and 3.5mm headphone sockets.
The diminutive DAC features an intuitive interface and a small-form design that Tangent claims "won't take up too much space in your home or office". You also get a remote bundled in for when you can't escape the sofa.
Meanwhile, the equally bijous Ampster TV II lands as "the ultimate amplifier to enhance your TV audio".
Packing Bluetooth 5.0 and an HDMI input, the Ampster TV II is designed to boost your telly's audio output via the unit's 2x50-watt amplifier.
With support for aptX HD, you can use the Ampster TV II's Bluetooth skills to wirelessly squirt tunes from your compatible device.
At the same time, its subwoofer output means you can be assured of plenty of low-frequency foundation for your movies and music.
Both models are available now, with the Tangent DAC II priced at £250 while the Ampster TV II costs £200.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
