JBL’s Finest Speaker Announced

If there was ever a speaker manufacturer that needed no introduction, JBL is surely it. 60 years of production has taught them a thing or two about loudspeaker design, and their latest release might just be their finest achievement to date.
Announced today by Australian distributor, Convoy, the Model 4367 has been dubbed JBL's best speaker ever for music lovers. Overseas, accolades are said to be pouring in already.
Geoff Matthews, Convoy International's CEO told StereoNET today:
Australians won’t have long to wait to hear the JBL Model 4367. It's in stock now and we’ll be officially launching it at the upcoming International Hi-Fi Show which will be held at the Pullman Mercure Hotel, Albert Park on July 1st– 3rd.
What I can tell music lovers is this is a reference class speaker that presents music on a Wagnerian scale, has the most natural sound my staff and I have ever encountered - and what’s more it handles all genres of music with effortless and consummate ease.
The new Model 4367 is a complete speaker solution modelled on JBL’s M2 Master Reference Monitor, which is the company’s reference standard for its revered studio monitors. JBL invested heavily in order that the Model 4367 delivers this level of sonic quality to music lovers.
Staying true to the JBL monitor aesthetic, Model 4367 is a beautiful finished two-way loudspeaker housed in a bass-reflex cabinet. The upper third of the front baffle contains the seriously expensive, large horn housing a mid-high frequency driver, using the brand’s D2 compression driver technology.
There's so substitute for cone area, and the Model 4367 relies on a huge 15" paper membrane woofer, powered by a neodymium magnet and double motor system. Paper is a proven speaker material, and while other manufacturers get caught up in modern exotic materials, they simply lack the natural warm tonal quality of paper, while avoiding artificial colouration that can be introduced by synthetic materials.
Weighing in at a solid 62kg each and measuring 941mm (H) 560mm (W) and (425mm (D), each speaker is fitted with vibration erasing cone shaped isolating feet.
Bi-wirable speaker-binding posts (4) are included and JBL says their Model 4367 "presents a benign load to amplifiers and is easy to drive with a 6ohm nominal impedance and 94dB sensitivity."
Jim Garrett, Harman’s Director of Marketing and Product Management is quietly proud of the Model 4367’s achievements, telling StereoNET:
Listen to the M2 and you’re hearing the same level of sonic accuracy through the Model 4367 but in your living room rather than a studio environment. It’s no exaggeration to say that the Model 4367 allows music to be heard in the home environment exactly the way performers, producers ad engineers want it to be heard.
JBL Model 4367 comes in a choice of two finishes, natural wood veneer or black lacquer. There are available now for $25,990 RRP.
For more information visit Convoy, or hear them at the 2016 Melbourne International HiFi Show, July 1st-3rd in Room M6.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality.
