KRIX REVEALS ITS ACTIVE PASSION AT THIS YEARS HIFI SHOW

Follow the conga line of eager audiophiles and it will lead you to the Krix HERETIX speaker, one of the highlights of this year’s International Hi-Fi Show in Melbourne, November 3rd-5th 2017.

A totally active, three-way model equipped with Australian DEQX processing to ensure perfect driver time alignment, and to calibrate this high-end flagship for just about any room.

The HERETIX is described by Krix as a long-time passion for its designer, Scott Krix. Scott is particularly pleased this model exploits the sonic excellence of the brand’s patented horn technology.

The HERETIX as befitting a flagship model delivers vanishingly low levels of distortion, a huge dynamic range, ruler-flat frequency response and an in room frequency of 20Hz to 20kHz.

Audition the HERETIX and it soon becomes obvious this model has negligible phase shift, plays loud but doesn’t compress at high volume levels.

The HERETIX will be on working display within an all-Australian system comprising DEQX processor and Elektra high definition amplifiers.

Krix will also use the show as a venue to unveil the Esoterix Altum, its new stand-mount model designed as a high-end speaker with a wide appeal.

The Esoterix Altum uses a Revelator tweeter working with Krix’s waveguide design to give music lovers a large, open soundstage, gobsmacking deep, taut informative bass.

The Altum’s styling is fresh and alluring and features a unique Prismatic shape that’s really eye arresting.

StereoNET’s publisher and show organiser, Marc Rushton, spent time in Adelaide recently at the Krix factory and after some one-on-one time with the Esoteric Altum declared, “this could easily become loudspeaker of the year!”.

Krix is a global brand and the first choice of many studios and cinemas so it hasn’t ignored surround sound devotees.

The brand’s new modular cinema speaker system fits behind an acoustically transparent projector screen, and will be an attention grabber at the show. Nicknamed the “Wall of Sound”, it comes in two models called the MX-20 for 4 to 7 metre deep rooms, and the MX30 for rooms 5 to 14 metres deep.

The two new surround systems feature a unique modular installation with acoustic treatment on each module to create an infinite baffle like those used in cinemas around the world.

The MX-20 and MX-30 have high sensitivity; will handle enormous amounts of power and very low distortion. Both are equipped with Krix’s waveguide and horn technology to give music and movie buffs a focused, controlled, direct cinema sound.

Krix makes a huge range of talented speakers. The Epix and Symmetrix Wall are two that will be on working display at the show.

This clever model offers house proud music and movie lovers a top flight concealed performance model designed to fit snugly and discreetly within a 70mm wall cavity including its fully enclosed backbox.

The Epix are an in-wall version of the Neuphonix model and will fit inside a 90mm wall cavity but offer the kind of sound delivered by a quality floorstander model.

Krix offer world-class products for both stereo and surround listening. Hear them for yourself in the Victoria Room and C2 space – November 3rd-5th, 2017 at the Pullman Mercure Hotel, Albert Park.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
