Let’s Hear It For Liszt

Vienna Acoustics is a quiet achiever. Without fanfare the research and development team based at the brand’s HQ in Vienna have over the years released a select number of models, each the epitome of refined sound and elegant styling.
Taking these qualities to a new level was quite a challenge. One now met with consummate ease by the new Liszt Speaker, a model positioned at the apex of Vienna Acoustic’s famous Imperial Series thanks to its patented, state of the art drivers.
Paul Clark, main man at Audio Active who distribute the brand throughout Australia doesn’t usually get carried away by ‘’newness’’. An audio veteran who’s been at the coal face of the industry for decades, Clarke has seen and heard a mountain load of amazing, standard setting AV kit. Which is why his response to hype is typically sedate and well considered.
Ask him about the Liszt however, and that famous composure and reserve turn into a passionate accolade about the new speakers sound quality.
"Anyone who knows Vienna Acoustics knows they leave hyperbole to rivals. But on this occasion I have to say the Liszt Speaker is pretty special,'' he told StereoNET.
"The model name says it all really. Liszt is arguably the most technically advanced pianist of his era and was noted for outstanding improvisations and innovating new forms of music. Like his namesake, the Imperial Series Liszt is a marvel of technical command – the latest improvisation upon a revolutionary Vienna Acoustics design that sets a new standard in sound."
The hand built Liszt is a clever three-way loudspeaker system using an all-new version of the patented Flat Spider Cone. This driver is set in a separate rotating, vented enclosure, supported by a sophisticated bass cabinet featuring three the brand's patented Spider Cone Woofers.
The Liszt is available in Premium Rosewood - $19,999 pair RRP or Gloss Black / Gloss White and Cherry finish $16,999 RRP.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
