Linn Krane Tonearm Shipping Date Announced

Announced in September, Linn's new Krane tonearm for its Majik LP12 has now been given a shipping date.
Linn's new Majik LP12 turntables will ship with the Krane tonearm which is said to boost the performance of the Glasgow-based company's entry-level vinyl source in line with the recent Majik DSM enhancements. Furthermore, in combination with the new Karousel bearing, the package promises even better value while giving vinyl lovers a chance to experience the iconic LP12.
From November 23rd, the Majik LP12 will be fitted with the Krane tonearm which was developed in partnership with the renowned manufacturer, Clearaudio. The new higher performance arm has been designed to be harmonious with the Linn deck's effective length and offset angle as well all Linn cartridges and other related LP12 components and accessories.
The static-balanced design is hand-assembled with high-quality, precision aluminium and stainless steel components. Also, it features a polished Tungsten and Sapphire vertical bearing with dual ceramic horizontal bearing assembly, both of which are long-lasting and provide extremely low friction/rotational mass.
The Linn Krane has a quoted effective length of 229 mm with an 18mm overhang. The offset angle is 24°, and it has a pivot to spindle distance of 211 mm. Naturally, the Krane sports a 5-Pin DIN cable connection as well as a Linn-designed arm collar to fit the Majik and Kore sub-chassis.
Krane has a range of adjustments making it easy to set up. As well as a laser-etched scale for accurate and repeatable VTA adjustment, the arm offers azimuth adjustment combined with a fixed offset angle to ensure perfect alignment of the cartridge and stylus. Additionally, the adjustable headshell design ensures that effective length is absolutely precise for proper cartridge alignment and performance.
The two-piece CNC Aluminium headshell features the distinctive Linn 3-point design, makes it a perfect match for Linn's Adikt Moving Magnet cartridge. However, the easily adjustable design means that Krane is also compatible with all Linn cartridges plus most 3rd party offerings.
Gilad Tiefenbrun, Linn Managing Director, told StereoNET:
We're delighted to give Majik LP12 a further boost in performance with the addition of the new Krane tonearm. Retrieving even more detail from the record, the improved tonearm delivers even better sound quality and entry-level vinyl lovers closer to the music that moves them. The dual improvements of Krane and the Karousel bearing ensure that no other entry-level turntable comes close to the value and performance of Majik LP12.
Krane tonearm is available as part of a full Majik LP12 turntable order which includes the Majik LP12 with Karousel bearing, Krane tonearm. In a standard wood finish, the RRP is £3,450 or £3,780 if you request a special finish.
Krane tonearm will be made available as an upgrade for existing Majik LP12 owners in 2021.

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
