M8AUDIO DAZZLES WITH THREE NEW SPEAKERS
It’s worth putting out a gilt-edged welcome mat for any new Aussie audio brand, at any time.
But when the newbie has such accomplished products as the trio of new speakers from the M8audio stable, it’s time for unabashed patriotic music lovers and audiophile to break out a bottle of any local vineyard's finest.
So with a glass or two of Yarra Valley Chardonnay, we report on the launch of M8audio’s inaugural high-performance loudspeakers.
And don’t they look great sporting refreshing cabinet contours and finishes?
Take the Maxwell model, for example. Now here’s a speaker that positively enforces the notion that you can have a great sounding speaker that’s as good on the eye as it is on the ears.
Along with svelte looks, the compact Maxwell comes with a horde of technologies usually not available on a speaker that sells for $6000.
The Maxwell’s enclosure is an expensive honeycomb braced cabinet that’s fully dampened using the brand’s proprietary viscoelastic dampeners and decoupling feet.
The Maxwell has a pure beryllium tweeter with a 29mm voice coil. A material that lucky owners of Yamaha’s NS1000 speakers keep on celebrating. The Maxwell’s 187mm midrange cone is fashioned from Egyptian papyrus, the motor is neodymium and the crossover a no-compromise build equipped with Alumen-Z capacitors.
The Maxwell’s frequency response is 47Hz to 40kHz and the sensitivity measures 86dB.
The Rocket 5.1 Super Resolution will stand out in a crowded speaker market with its Franco Serblin (Sonus Faber) contours.
A two-way compact it carries a 22mm aluminium/magnesium dome tweeter and a 132mm Egyptian papyrus cone midrange with a neodymium motor.
The Rocket has a frequency response of 72Hz to 32kHz and an efficiency of 83dB. The crossover frequency is set at 2.7kHz. Price is $2800.
The Sub One Ten is an active subwoofer that again is beautifully contoured and matches the looks of the Rocket.
The driver installed in the Sub One Ten is a 290mm paper fibre cone model with four layers for greater rigidity. It uses a 75mm voice coil.
The frequency response is 33-120Hz and the amplifier is a Class-D model rated at 300w RMS.
The Sub One Ten has adjustable Gain, Line In Low Pass Filter (40-200Hz), variable phase along with Auto sense on and standby modes. Price is $2400.
The three new speakers are available now. Here’s betting they’ll be bottlers.
