Marantz announce compact yet feature packed NR1607 AV Receiver

On the back of their award sweep from the recent EISA awards, Marantz have announced a new addition to their 2016 home theatre line-up. The NR1607 is an elegant, slim design Network AV Receiver.
The NR1607 continues the company’s extremely successful series of slim design AVRs, as it is exclusively built for the design and space-conscious home theatre enthusiasts that do not want to compromise on performance. Packed with the latest in audio and video technology, paired with advanced wireless connectivity, total ease-of-use and energy-conscious performance, it remains true to the renowned Marantz sound.
Featuring high current discrete power transistors on all 7 channels, Marantz say it delivers astonishing power and clarity from a cabinet just a little more than 10cm tall.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with dual antennas and dual band for robust connection (even in Wi-Fi crowded areas), let you stream your music via AirPlay or Spotify Connect, from 10,000 of Internet Radio stations or from local network storage drives – all the way through to high resolution audio, and with the famous Marantz sound quality.
Slim enough to slip into any TV cabinet, it features Dolby Atmos 3D surround sound compatibility and a future firmware update is said to allow the NR1607 to decode DTS:X soundtracks, for the ultimate in emerging 3D sound.
The video section fully supports next generation 4K Ultra HD high resolution video, along with the latest HDMI specification including 4K 50/60Hz pass-through and HDCP 2.2 compatibility that is required for 4K copy-protected content. It also features HDR (High Dynamic Range) and Wide Color Gamut compatibility, key components of the BT.2020 4K Ultra HD video specification.
There are 8 HDMI inputs including 1 conveniently located on the front panel, all of which support HDCP 2.2 compatibility, enough to connect modern HDMI devices such as Blu-ray players, game consoles or streaming set-top-boxes. The NR1607 further owns an advanced video section to upscale analogue and digital source material up to Full HD 1080p or even 4K Ultra HD.
For such a compact unit, the feature list doesn't end there. With the help of the clever Graphical User Interface, Setup Assistant, and famous Audyssey MultEQ room calibration, setup is simple; just follow the on-screen instructions. There's also a new Marantz 2016 AVR Remote App available for Android and iOS making daily use even easier.
Marantz NR1607 is available now in a black finish for $1,280 RRP. Full specifications can be found here.
Marantz is distributed in Australia by Qualifi.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
